HOW ARE THE LIBRARIANS CHOSEN?

Librarians are chosen by volunteering themselves for the position and or by the English teacher.

Librarians are generally chosen in the last term for the new academic year, based on their character and attitude during the year.

WHAT DO LIBRARIANS DO?

Librarians help the school run an effective library enabling all students the chance to get books from the school library. 

A student librarian will need to be reliable, punctual, hardworking, honest and enthusiastic person, who will be dealing with staff and students from different year groups.

Student Librarians will need to be happy to help any student wanting to access the library resources, and also motivate her to read regularly with passion and interest. 

Librarians should themselves be passionate about reading and be able to guide others and recommend what books are good for reading.

Main Duties

Student Librarian’s duties will be varied and could include: – Issuing/returning books – Shelving books – Helping choose resources for the library – Dealing with enquiries and requests from library users – Recommending books to students – Helping library users find books or other resources in the library – Preparing displays to promote reading for pleasure – Helping at events such as open evenings, author visits, World Book Day etc – Running the stationery shop – Keeping the library tidy – Cataloguing new library books – Undertaking any other reasonable duties as required by the head teacher.
